Flower Fun

During Hiking Yoga my best friend Keren and I came up with the perfect Sunday activity - flower district field trip! Keren shared that her boyfriend Ryan, who is an extremely talented poet, also has a love for flower design. Eric is always game for any activity so I knew this would be something we would all enjoy. On Sunday we had an afternoon of creativity and good food. 

We first went to the Flower District (28th St. between 6th and 7th Avenues) where we selected a variety of flowers in all colors - peonies, hydrangeas, roses, etc. Once home we went to work on our terrace using the vases around our apartment. What was so amazing is how different each arrangement came out given we were all using the same mix of flowers. It shows what an art form it is.  

We had so much fun making arrangements in the sun and then enjoying a healthy lunch of chicken lettuce wraps with peanut sauce (check back tomorrow for Eric's yummy recipe). This would make a great party theme. Sometime this summer have your friends over, ask everyone to bring a vase, and host a flower making party!!!
