Superfood Smoothie

My sister Taylor is the smoothie queen. Every morning she wakes up and whips up a smoothie infused with vitamin enriched fruits and veggies. I swear this contributes to her great attitude, glowing skin and always being happy (or this could be from living in Aspen).
She recommends experimenting with a variety of super foods and mixing up the ratio of fruits & veggies. In addition to the below she adds to the blender a pinch of organic cranberry or pomegranate juice and a little water with a handful of ice. Here is her recipe from this morning. This makes two, large glasses.
Variety of fruits/veggies:
- Handful of kale and/or spinach (iron and vitamin A)
- Four or five strawberries (heart health and vitamin C)
- Handful of blueberries (antioxidant)
- One large carrot (vitamin A)
- Two stalks of celery (vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium)
- One or two bananas (potassium)
- Half an apple (antioxidant)
- Sliced beets (full of disease fighting phytonutrients)

And then she adds a teaspoon or half a teaspoon of the below (you can incorporate as many or as little as you'd like):

- Maca (strength, stamina and libido)
- Cacao (brain function)
- Ginger (metabolism, digestive functions)
- Fish oil (memory, heart)
- Flaxseeds (fatty acids)
- Almonds (loaded with fiber)
- Turmeric (manganese, iron and fiber)
**You can order some of the above in powder form from LiveSuperfoods.com http://livesuperfoods.com/maca-powder.html
She swears by her Vitamix blender for easy mixing https://secure.vitamix.com
