Cancel Cancel

I wouldn't say I'm a morning person. Unlike my middle sister Taylor who without fail always wakes up with a huge smile and bounce in her step, I'm a constant snoozer and will do anything for a little more R&R! Last Thursday I woke up in a funk. First, I realized I booked my flight to Florida that evening backwards (departing from Ft.Lauderdale not NYC) then I couldn't find my camera and lastly I had an important meeting and all of my outfits were looking just ugh. If you ever wake up and your morning starts out difficult before you leave the door change your thinking with CANCEL CANCEL.

Most of us (myself included)faced with a bad morning begin to think negative thoughts i.e. "today is going to be a horrible day," and "why is this happening to me." One of the most important lessons from the Law of Attraction is Like Attracts Like http://www.eftabundance.com/lawofattraction.htm (more to come on this later) and just how a positive attracts a positive your negative thoughts do the same thing meaning focusing too much attention on a bad morning will make your entire day difficult.

Tamy Wisdom: CANCEL CANCEL - whenever you have a negative thought and your thinking is going into a downward spiral STOP your thought process by literally saying CANCEL CANCEL - think it, say it out loud, write it down, whatever you need to do. Then replace the thought with a positive. For me this meant leaving my annoyances at my apartment and walking to work visualizing myself having an easy and effortless day.

Cancel, cancel is a Silva Method technique. Saying it helps catch yourself from going to a negative place or state of thinking. It also makes you more aware and perceptive to identifying negative comments/thoughts. http://www.silvamethod.com/

Exotic Obsession

Included on my Southeast Asia packing list is my new OBSESSION from my sister and her boyfriend's line Taylor and Tessier -- stingray cuff bracelets. Based in Aspen they spent the past two months living with my grandpa and designing from his home in
Islamorada in the Florida Keys. The color options are bright and bold (coral, bronze, turquoise) and the pieces with agate stone are truly a piece of art. This will definitely be my statement piece for the summer!
Check them out and see more of their designs: http://www.taylorandtessier.com/

Today is a Lavender Day

Longing for Lavender
Playing with Pinterest!

Lavender Love

Lavender soothes the soul! Everything from the color to the scent spurs calmness. One of my mom's concoctions, Lavender Love Spray, was not only a hit as our wedding gift but is something we use daily. It's made with lavender essential oil and helps create a calm and peaceful environment. I spritz my apartment multiple times throughout the day as well as myself and my husband! To create your own spray simply combine water with drops of lavender essential oil (you can buy this at Whole Foods or any health store) in a glass spray bottle until the scent is to your liking and then start spraying. All of our home and bath products are also lavender. Aveeno has an amazing line of products:

Rhodiolia - The Real Deal

Rhodiolia Rosea
When I arrived to my mom's house in Aspen for the XMAS holiday she could immediately tell I brought the energy of the city to her mountain retreat. I confided that I had been feeling stressed/anxious and was having trouble sleeping. She instantly recommended that I start taking the super herb, Rhodiolia Rosea. Similar to some of the benefits of St.John's Wort it helps with a variety of things - strengthens the nervous system, fights depression & stress, enhances immunity, increases physical endurance, boosts memory, weight reduction and improves energy levels. At first I was skeptical (as I sometimes am with my mother's remedies) but almost immediately I felt a difference. I (and my entire family) have been taking it ever since and I can't recommend it enough.

Take 1 to 2 300 mg pills each morning. This is the brand I recommend:

Rhodiolia's healing history goes way back - the Vikings depended on the herb to enhance their physical strength and endurance, the Chinese called it "the golden root" and athletes have long used it attain peak performance http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-rhodiola.html

Here goes my first blog post (wish me luck)! A little bit about me:

From first glance I come across as a city girl through and through – dressed in black, Starbucks nonfat chai in hand, career in fashion/publishing, determined and poised. But in reality I am anything but. I grew up in South Florida before moving to Aspen (where I went to a hippie high school called CRMS...think glass blowing, kayaking, hiking 14ers and Birkenstocks). After graduating from the University of Colorado I moved to LA where I traded the mountains for executing red carpet events.

Throughout my life I have always been in tune with the importance of staying balanced. I grew up with a very spiritual mother, Tamy (on this blog I will refer to her as wise one) and from her I learned invaluable advice on de-stressing, being positive, and of course the law of attraction (if you don’t know what I am referring to Google Esther/Jerry Hicks ASAP). http://www.abraham-hicks.com/lawofattractionsource/index.php

In Aspen I had the mountains, in LA I had Runyon but since moving to the concrete jungle I haven’t quite discovered my calming fix. My Zen, chi, inner calmness (whatever you like to call it) has been a work in progress. This blog is meant to be a resource for anyone who works in a high stress job, lives in an intense environment, or just desires to attain their best self.
