Being Casual in Connecticut

Living in the city I long for space, outdoors, fresh air and greenery. Sometimes I find myself dreaming of what it would be like to live outside the city. New York City is surrounded by beautiful suburbs that are so close yet seem worlds away. I have lived in NYC for 4 years and have yet to explore Connecticut. Ironically, I often include us living in a gorgeous home in Connecticut on my universe list so it was about time I saw what it was all about. Last Saturday we went to Darien to visit our friends Kelly and Drew who moved there earlier this year. Connecticut surpassed my expectations. When driving around Darien it felt like it was out of a storybook with picture perfect tree-lined streets and happy families everywhere. We ate lunch outside while watching paddle boarders in the Long Island Sound, went to the beach and had a delicious dinner at Artisan in Southport. We will see where the future takes us!

Friends with Flare - My Sister Alexandra

I think the world of my sisters and you will continue to see a lot of them on this blog. We are best friends and I only wish we lived closer. Both of them live in Colorado, Taylor in Aspen and Alexandra is going to be a sophomore at the University of Colorado in Boulder. When we get together especially for a girls weekend there is never a dull moment. Typically these weekends include lots and lots of laughing, being ridiculously goofy, having dance parties or dance offs, working out, us all in the same bed talking or watching a movie, shopping and eating chocolate. We all have a killer sweet tooth. Our dessert of choice is a warm molten chocolate cake with ice cream. 

Alexandra is the youngest and we are 9 years apart. She is such an amazing person and an extremely talented photographer. Many of her photos are on this blog and you can see more on her tumblr http://wind12.tumblr.com/. Fingers crossed she moves to NYC next summer for an internship and lives with her big sis! Alexandra is naturally gorgeous. You saw some pics of her cute dress from the Full Moon Party but I wanted to include some more pics of her on my grandpa's dock.

Friends with Flare - Meet Caitlin

Caitlin is seriously one of my favorite people. She is gorgeous, down-to-earth and all around just a cool person. She lives in the Lower East Side, spends her weekends in Montauk and always knows about the latest hot spots. As Promotions Manager at W magazine she flawlessly executes events. On the job she handles stress by taking deep breaths, letting go, and focusing on what is important. She also chills out by visiting her fav neighborhood spots like Beekman Beer Garden or The Wayland for a kale-ginger margarita. I informed her that her drink of choice is made with one of my favorite super foods - kale.

Florida Fun

Eric and I went to Florida to visit his family for the long weekend. Being surrounded by such lush greenery I had to bust out my green skinny jeans. The weather was perfect and the weekend filled with fun.

Friends with Flare - Fashion Blogger Rachel Schwartzmann

While in Las Vegas for MAGIC this year I was lucky enough to meet the ever so stylish Rachel Schwartzmann. She is wise beyond her years and is taking the bloggersphere by storm with her two sites Le Style Child lestylechild.com/ and The Style Line thestyleline.tumblr.com/. Her style is effortlessly chic. She is currently interning at Jeffrey Campbell and is finishing up her freshman year at FIT. She stays balanced by walking outside and listening to music.  

I love how she wears her skinny belt as a bracelet. Her amazing silver pieces are from her grandma who lives in New Mexico.

Where I work is a fashion dream. Every day (even Friday) people dress to impress. The attire is exceptional and the elevator (and cafeteria) is always full of people rockin' designer duds and killer outfits. I try to never take fashion too seriously, have fun with it and wear what makes me feel good. Starting today Im going to feature a weekly post showcasing my fashionably fun friends.
